Special Educational Needs
Policy and provision of Special Educational Needs at Ash Hill School is managed by the Inclusion Leader, Mrs Marielle Lord and her role includes that of the school SENCo. She can be contacted via the school office.
Ash Hill SEND policy has been developed with the following aims and objectives in mind:
- to align with our school mission to ensure that every pupil is enabled to be ‘the best that they can be’ and to create well rounded individuals who are lifelong learners
- to operate a “whole pupil, whole school” approach to the management and provision of support for SEND
- to work within the guidance provided in the SEND Code of Practice, 2015
- to enable every pupil to experience success
- to promote individual confidence, self-esteem and a positive attitude
- to ensure that all pupils, whatever their special educational needs, receive appropriate educational provision through a broad and balanced curriculum that is relevant and differentiated, and that demonstrates coherence and progression in learning
- to give pupils with SEND equal opportunities to take part in all aspects of the school’s provision, as far as is appropriate
- to identify, assess, record, and regularly review pupils’ progress and needs
- to work in partnership with children and their families at every stage of the SEND process
- to work collaboratively with other professionals and support services
