RE Curriculum
RE Vision statement
All of our children understand the nature of faith and its importance to the people that hold it.
RE at Ash Hill explores different religions and worldviews, underpinned by the Buckinghamshire SACRE. At KS1, children will begin to explore Christianity and Judaism. At KS2, children will explore Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. Children will be able to explore their own and others’ religious (and non-religious) views, beliefs and attitudes.
The children will meet visitors who are from a particular faith group and visit places of worship to enrich their understanding. Where first hand religious artefacts can be used to further enhance understanding and enrich experience, this will be used.
The children will be able to reflect on what they have learnt and the different viewpoints they have come across. They will confidently discuss those viewpoints in a respectful, open and academic way. The children will learn how we relate to one another as part of society on a local, national and global level.
Through the study of RE, our children will develop their character to become respectful, empathic, resilient, community minded individuals. The children will leave Ash Hill with a firm understanding of who they are and their place in the world alongside a firm understanding of faith and what people of different faiths believe.
RE Core Elements
The Core Elements of our RE Curriculum are below. These are what we value for the children at Ash Hill Primary and what we want the children to be able to do by the end of the Primary phase.
