Music Curriculum
Music Vision Statement
At Ash Hill Primary we want pupils to be confident in the art of music for self-expression which is vital for personal development. Pupils will have opportunities to sing and explore playing a range of musical instruments throughout their time at Ash Hill. At Ash Hill we have a culturally diverse background, and we want our music curriculum to reflect this. Pupils will feel empowered by understanding how music reflects different cultures and society that we live in or come from. Pupils will develop an appreciation of how music has evolved over time through different genres across the world. Pupils have the chance to come together and sing and play instruments as a group; experiencing performance and progress together. A pupil that leaves Ash Hill will have the key skills to make informed judgements about music, will be able to discuss music technically and emotionally and will use music to express themselves.
Music Core Elements
The Core Elements of our Music Curriculum are below. These are what we value for the children at Ash Hill Primary and what we want the children to be able to do by the end of the Primary phase.
