Art Curriculum
Art Vision Statement
At Ash Hill we value and encourage the pupil’s freedom to be creative and to express themselves through their artwork. We encourage the pupils to take their seed of an idea and to grow the idea and develop it into an artistic expression. We look at how other artists do this and we spend time exploring and developing artistic skills that can be selected and used by the children. We value the pupil’s imagination and individuality and would like pupils to learn that art is a form in which they can express themselves; their ideas, thoughts and emotions. We value experiences and how these can feed ideas and imagination and we make use of nature and the outdoor environments to inspire. We would like the pupils to foster an appreciation of the beauty of the world around them. We take part in whole school art activities where we all contribute and create together to support and cultivate our school community. We hope to give experiences in art that are joyful and where pupils are feeling successful in what they create.
"All children are born artists. The problem is to remain an artist as we grow up," Pablo Picasso
